MIRIAM AND TREY

Golden Hour Magic: Miriam & Trey’s Sumter Session

There is something truly special about the light in South Carolina during the transition into spring. This week, I had the pleasure of heading out to a hidden gem of a location in Sumter, SC, to capture some memories for a couple who are as kind as they are photogenic: Miriam and Trey.

While most people look for sweeping mountain vistas or crashing waves, sometimes the most breathtaking backdrops are right in our own backyard. We spent our afternoon exploring the beautiful, sprawling grounds behind Alice Drive Baptist Church.

The Location: A Hidden Oasis

You might not expect a church property to be a top-tier photography destination, but the area behind Alice Drive is a photographer’s dream. It offers a perfect blend of:

  • Manicured greenery that provides a clean, classic look.

  • Towering pines and oaks that filter the sunlight into soft, romantic patterns.

  • Quiet, open spaces that allowed Miriam and Trey to truly relax and be themselves without the distractions of a crowded park.

The Vibe: Sun-Drenched & Carefree

The weather could not have been more perfect. We were blessed with that glowing, "golden hour" light that makes everything feel a bit like a dream.

Miriam and Trey have this effortless chemistry that made my job incredibly easy. Whether they were sharing a quiet laugh under the trees or just walking hand in hand through the tall grass, their connection was the real star of the show. There’s a specific kind of magic that happens when a couple forgets the camera is there, and these two nailed it.

Why We Loved This Session

What I loved most about this shoot wasn't just the lighting or the scenery, it was the intentionality. Miriam and Trey chose a spot that felt peaceful and personal. It’s a great reminder that you don't need an exotic location to get stunning photos; you just need great light, a beautiful connection, and a little bit of South Carolina charm.

"The best photos aren't just about the pose; they're about the way two people exist in the same space when they think no one is looking."

Planning your own session in the Sumter area? I’d love to help you find the perfect spot that tells your story.
