What should I wear to my couples session?

  1. Coordination over matching:

There used to be days where everyone would match in white t-shirts and jeans, those days are over! Instead, you should pick a color palette to go off of. Choose 2-3 complementary colors and miz them up. If one person chooses to wear a dress with a pattern, the other person can wear a solid color that pulls from the color palette of the dress.

  2. Think about your location and vibe:

Your outfits should match the environment of the photoshoot. If we are in an open field with lots of grass and greenery, it may be nice to wear more earthy tones and relaxed textures (like linen, knits, or denim). In South Carolina, we have plenty of more urban areas that have elegant and upscale downtown areas. In these situations, I would opt for more chic outfits (like a maxi satin dress and a tailored blazer).

  3. Movability is Key:

In our sessions, I will have you two walking, spinning, sitting, and maybe even giving each other piggyback rides! So you should pick outfits that let you move as much as possible. If you are constantly pulling down a skirt or adjusting a tight collar, it will show on your face in photos.

On the other hand, try to avoid graphic tees, large logos, or super neon colors, they tend to distract from your faces and cast weird color reflections onto your skin and can even give a tacky look to the photos.

  5. Dress Up a Little:

This is the best scenario to over dress, because there is no way to overdress! A flowing dress or skirt adds amazing movement in photos, and a structured jacket or button-down frames shoulders perfectly. If you can’t decide, bring two options-one dresss
